Chris Anderson ~ Rookie Of the Year
Awards Given at Annual Athletic Department Awards Dinner - Roger Williams University

Rookie Athlete of the Year (Male):

Chris Andersen Swimming & Diving Freshman Massabesic, ME

**While studying architecture, Andersen helped lead the men's swimming and diving team to fourth out of 13 teams at the New England Championships. He placed first in both the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke and was part of the winning 200 medley relay and the 400 medley relay at the CCC championships. He holds three individual school records and is also a part of two relay school records.

Kyle Savarese is the 2004 Co Captain of the Nature Coast Tech varsity football team.

**Former multiple Maine State Swimming Champion Matt Woodward is swimming for the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Photo by the Woodwards was taken at an invitational swim meet which included Dartmouth, University of Rhode Island and Lasalle. Matt was swimming the 100 and 200 yd. breast stroke and two relays. His team recently spent 8 days training in Miami, FL and returned to Rhode Island to win this invitational meet.

Jenn Walker's Bentley College Field Hockey Team won the NCAA Division II National Championship! She was named to the All Conference Second Team and was Co-Freshman Player of the Year! Way to go Jenn. Jennifer Walker graduated from Massabesic High School in 2001 and was an outstanding athlete in MHS field hockey, basketball, and track.

Left to right: Joey Olszewski, Suzanne Hussey and Nate Holmes following their first Division 1 indoor track meet at the University of Maine in Orono. All were standout runners for Mark Crepeau, MHS track and cross country coach.

Olszewski runs the 400 and the 200 and won his heat. Hussey ran the 3000m race and she was the 2nd Black Bear runner to finish the race, placing 4th in the race out of 13 runners. Holmes won both the high hurdles and the 60 yard dash. You may remember that he was a 2000 Maine State Champion in track. Their next competition is in January 2002.

Rob (1997), Brianna (1999), & Derek (2000) Waterman have been skiing with the Maine Attraction WaterSki Show Team since 1991. They continue to perform shows every summer throughout New England, including 3 shows at Number One Pond in Sanford ME.

The photo is from the August 3, 2002 show in Sanford ME. Brianna is 4th from the left on the 2nd tier, Derek is 3rd from the left on the base, and Rob is 5th from the left on the base. Check out the team link above for a 6-minute iMovie of their ski show. Rob, Brianna & Derek also hold several Maine State WaterSki Championship titles in tournament skiing in the jump, slalom and trick events.
