In order to maintain a safe, secure and comfortable learning environment for each child, I have developed the following behavior plan based on positive reinforcement and respect for others. This plan affords every student the opportunity to manage his or her own behavior. Please read and review the plan with your child. Thank you for your cooperation in this process. |

Our Rainbow Rules
1. Treat others with kindness.
2. Listen carefully.
3. Follow directions.
4. Work hard each day.
|
Appropriate behavior will be reinforced in a variety of ways, including using positive verbal comments and praise.
Cool Cards
Each child will have the responsibility to keep a Cool Card. Cool Cards will be punched at the end of the day if a child's behavior has been appropriate. When the card has ten punches, it is full, and it can be turned in for a small treat (pencils, eraser tops, etc.), or the student can save it, and earn another ten punches to get a dip into the Treasure Box.
When good behavior is modeled by a student, that student can be recognized with an extra punch on his/her Cool Card.
Puzzle Pieces
If the entire class behaves in an appropriate manner, such as walking quietly to the library, the class can earn a puzzle piece. When the entire puzzle is completed, we'll vote on a class reward.
Breaking the Rules
First time: 1 warning. The student can still get a punch at the end of the day.
Second time: The student will not get a punch at the end of the day.
Third time: The student will lose 5 minutes of recess time.
Fourth time: The student will lose 10 minutes of recess and a note will be sent home to be signed and returned.
Fifth time: The student will lose all recess time and a note will be sent home to be signed and returned.
Severe disruptions: The student will automatically go to the Principal's office.
